Police on Tuesday found marijuana plants in a Van Nuys warehouse and no signs that the place was booby-trapped, despite initial concerns to the contrary.
The incident went down after 5 a.m. when police went to an industrial area of Van Nuys after someone reported an open door at a warehouse at Stagg Street and Densmore Avenue in Van Nuys, police said.
When police arrived, they smelled the odor of marijuana.
When they went to investigate, they said they saw colored wires on a doorknob. Fearing the location might be booby trapped, they called in the bomb squad.
Hours later, the team deemed the location safe and police launched an investigation.
Officials removed dozens of marijuana plants -- some up to 6 feet tall.
There was no immediate word of arrests.
