Red-Eye Obama Revelers Spill into DC

Many Southern California residents jammed a local airport Monday night awaiting their late night flight to Washington D.C. to see, in person, the Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

NBC4 spoke to several passengers at Long Beach Airport awaiting an overnight flight to Dulles Airport in the nation’s capital.  Many of them were ecstatic and filled with anticipation about their trip.

One passenger, Dominique Pereira of Winnetka, said, "This is the big one, I’m determined to make it.”

Despite the “red eye” flight, Pereira said she would be happy just to be there.

Another passenger on JetBlue flight 300, an Australian, said he didn't have tickets to any of the Inaugural events.  Daniel Nolin of Sydney said he just wanted to be part of the atmosphere.

Their flight arrived early Tuesday morning.
