After the body of a 56-year-old man was discovered in a white Cadillac that was engulfed in flames in San Pedro, the man was identified Friday by authorities.

Marc Woodward was found at 2528 S. Cabrillo Ave. near West 25th Street by firefighters after a neighbor called authorities, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Neighbors heard loud booms, but no screeching tires, right before the car caught fire.

LAPD Capt. Jon Pinto said homicide investigators were at the scene to determine if there was any foul play.

Co-workers and friends described him as a father and married man.

His cause of death was yet to be determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner.
