A limited-edition library card designed by artists Shephard Fairey and Cleon Peterson is now available at all 73 Los Angeles Public Library locations, city officials announced Tuesday.
Fairey joined Mayor Eric Garcetti and library officials Tuesday to unveil the design, which shows an illustration of the front of the Central Library building, as part of National Library Week.
Fairey is known for his iconic graphic art that were initially wheat pasted onto the side of buildings and other urban structures and features the face of the late professional wrestler Andre the Giant accompanied by the propaganda-inspired slogan "Obey Giant."

Fairey is also known for his stylized portrait of Barack Obama, emblazoned with the word "HOPE," that was used heavily during Obama's 2008 presidential campaign.
Both Fairey and Peterson are artists based in Los Angeles. Fairey and his wife Amanda are frequent supporters of the Los Angeles Public Library, with Fairey serving as a celebrity reader.

'My wife Amanda and I believe in the value of libraries to provide resources for the public, especially those who can't afford decent computers or an extensive book collection," Fairey said. "When I was younger, I did most of my research for art and design at the library."
