Two men arguing across the street from the South Gate Police Department got into a shootout, leaving at least one of them wounded, police said.
Gunfire broke out just before 5 p.m. Tuesday at a cellphone store directly across the street from the police department near California and Ardmore avenues, police Capt. Darren Arakawa said.
"There was some kind of dispute and the two men started shooting at each other," police Lt. Ignacio Patino said.
One of the men was shot multiple times and taken to the hospital, Patino said. The other man fled.
