Police chase vehicle in the San Gabriel Valley

NBC Universal, Inc.

Police were chasing an erratic driver in a pickup truck Thursday through the San Gabriel Valley following a report of a possible stolen vehicle.

The chase began sometime before 6:10 p.m. near downtown Los Angeles after the driver traveled recklessly and failed to yield to Los Angeles police.

The driver traveled through Boyle Heights, Montebello, Irwindale, Alhambra, El Monte and other surrounding neighborhoods by freeway and surface streets. Ultimately, the driver exited the 101 Freeway near East Los Angeles and came to a complete stop in the middle of traffic in downtown near the intersection of Linden Street and East 8th Street.

There, a passenger and the driver, struggling to keep their pants up, ditched the truck and ran off on foot.

After a brief foot chase, police were able to tackle one of the vehicle's occupants in the middle of the street. The other was detained nearby.

LAPD did not release the names of the individuals involved in the chase.
