Average SoCal Gas Prices Drop to $3.694

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped two-tenths of a cent Friday to $3.694, the second consecutive decrease after being unchanged three of the previous four days.

The average price is seven-tenths of a cent less than one week ago and 9.6 cents lower than one month ago, but 5.3 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The Orange County average price dropped six-tenths of a cent to $3.66, the fourth consecutive decrease after remaining unchanged on Monday. It is 1.5 cents less than one week ago and 8.7 cents lower than one month ago, but 7.6 cents more than one year ago.

As the average gas prices continue to climb some motorists have been searching to get more bang for their buck. Gordon Tokumatsu reports for the NBC4 News on Tuesday, April 16, 2019.

"Concerns about flaring at the Chevron refinery in Richmond last week briefly pushed up local wholesale gasoline prices, but they headed back down this week as it became clear there is plenty of supply," said Jeffrey Spring, the Automobile Club of Southern California's corporate communications manager.
