A thoroughbred horse needed to be rescued from a 60-foot ravine in the Hollywood Hills, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said Sunday.
The horse normally makes its way down the Hollywood Hills trail, but lost its footing and tumbled down the ravine.
The horse only suffered superficial wounds, officials said.
Officials said they would take extra precautions to make sure the horse will be comfortable, like putting cotton balls in its ears so the helicopter wouldn't spook it.
The rescuers also said they would place a mask over the animal's eyes to prevent particles from damaging its eyes.
Rescuers used a hoist to retrieve the 17.1 thoroughbred horse to safety.
Rescuers responded to the 3400 block of Beachwood Drive when a park ranger reported the horse's fall.
