Two Killed in Corona Plane Crash ID'd as OC Residents

A man and woman killed in a small plane crash near Corona in Riverside County were Orange County residents. The pilot was 50-year-old William Randy Morgan of Trabuco Canyon. His passenger was 46-year-old Karen Lynne Oberdiear
of San Juan Capistrano.

They took off from Corona Municipal Airport in Riverside County Friday morning on their way to Lake Havasu, Ariz.  Investigators say they crashed shortly afterward in a marshy area near Corona.  They also say the pilot never contacted air traffic control.  Witnesses on the ground say they heard the sound of the engine apparently quitting.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the Piper Cherokee was located Friday night, about 1½-miles northwest of the airport.  The victims' bodies were recovered Saturday.
