Los Angeles Named Fourth-Most Bedbug-Infested City in U.S.

The City of Angels moved up two spots from last year's list.

Angelenos tucking themselves into bed tonight might want to check their mattresses thoroughly, as the pest control company Orkin ranked L.A. the fourth-most bedbug-infested city in America.

Los Angeles moved up two spots from last year on the annual itch-inducing list, with Baltimore topping the rankings for the second year in a row.

Washington, D.C., was second and Chicago was third in the top 50 list of bedbug-infested metropolises, while other California cities on the list include San Francisco (9th) and San Diego (41st).

Bedbugs are parasitic insects that feed on blood from humans and warm-blooded animals to survive and often live in mattresses or other areas near a bed, although they can be found in other parts of buildings as well.
