Man Arrested on Suspicion of Fatally Shooting In-Laws in West Covina

A suspect was in custody Thursday after a man and a woman were found shot to death in a West Covina condominium where three children were also found hiding, police said.

Around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a home in the 1300 block of East Oahu Street after neighbors reported hearing shots fired and children screaming in the area, according to the West Covina Police Department.

Aiping Diao, 60 and his wife Shu Zhang, 60, both of China, were found inside the home with apparent gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said the victims were visiting their daughter at the location at the time of their death.

The suspect, later identified as Caminero Wang, 43 of West Covina, surrendered to police without incident and was arrested on suspicion of murder. Wang is reportedly the son-in-law of the two victims, according to police.

Three children, ages 8, 6 and 3, were also found hiding in one of the restrooms. None of the children were physically injured.

Wang is being held at the West Covina Police Department on $2 million bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The investigation is ongoing.
