Azusa police Monday evacuated a neighborhood as they surrounded a home where a suspect had been barricaded with two children inside.
The children were released unharmed after noon, then the man surrendered to authorities, officials said.
A SWAT team was sent to the 900 block of North Azusa Avenue shortly after 9 a.m., police said.
Police said there was no threat to the community, but they urged people to remain inside their homes, and away from doors and windows as a precaution.
A woman told police she was a victim of domestic violence.
A 11-year-old and an 11-month-old had been inside the house, police said.
Editor's Note: This story has been updated. An earlier version reflected incorrect initial information about the children's ages.
