Man Shot and Killed in Jefferson Park Area

A man in his 50s was shot and killed after arguing with two men Monday in the Jefferson Park area of Los Angeles, a sergeant said.

The shooting at 36th Street and Normandie Avenue near a church was reported about 3:30 p.m., Los Angeles police Sgt. Timothy Morris, of LAPD's Southwest station.

"A witness said the deceased man was arguing with two (men) and then he heard a gunshot," Morris said. "The two suspects then fled the scene in a dark-colored vehicle heading northbound."

No detailed descriptions of the suspects was available. The name of the deceased man was withheld, pending notification of next of kin.
