The search continued Tuesday for a woman who shot a man at least three times while he was working on a van in Boyle Heights, police said.
Witnesses said the woman walked up to a man performing vehicle repairs in the 1800 block of West Fifth Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Family members identified the victim a man in his early 20s who was known as a neighborhood mechanic.
She shot him three times, then jumped into the passenger side of a gray minivan and took off heading north on Boyle Avenue. A witness told NBC4 he heard about six gunshots.
The motive for the shooting was not immediately clear but detectives said there did not appear to be a relationship between the victim and the shooter. Family members said the victim has a wife and child.
A description of the woman was not immediately available.
Police said Tuesday the victim remained in serious condition.
