Arrest Made in McDonald's Fight With Security Guard Caught on Camera

Police arrested a man and were looking for a second who were in a fight with a security guard at a McDonald's in Santa Monica that was caught on video, officials said.

The fight was reported at 4:33 a.m. Wednesday at the fast food restaurant on Second Street at Colorado Avenue, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

The fight started after the security guard asked two people who were sleeping in the restaurant to either buy food or leave, police said.

The guard was not seriously hurt, said Lt. Saul Rodriguez, a Santa Monica Police Department spokesman.

A video of the confrontation shows a man repeatedly punching a security guard in the head while the guard tries to grab a second man. Onlookers can be seen trying to pull the man off the security guard.

The man punches and pushes the security guard through the door to the ground and a diner picks up a chair and throws it at the man.

One man police described as the primary aggressor was booked into custody on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and violating probation. Police did not release his name.
