Metrolink Train Strikes, Kills Pedestrian in Santa Clarita

A Metrolink train struck and killed a man Friday night in Santa Clarita.

The deadly collision was reported just about 7 p.m. in the area of Drayton Street and Railroad Avenue, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. The victim -- reported by the sheriff's department to be a man -- was pronounced dead at the scene, a fire department dispatcher said.

The train was No. 221 bound for Lancaster on the Antelope Valley Line, according to Metrolink.

Tracks were closed between Newhall and Santa Clarita and alternative transportation was being sought for affected passengers, Metrolink reported.
