Yellow Shotgun That Takes Lethal and Non-Lethal Ammunition Missing From Police

Police asked for the public’s help in finding the weapon.

A yellow shotgun loaded with less-than-lethal bean bag rounds went missing from Compton on Saturday, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were asking for the public’s help in finding the weapon, which is very noticeable with its yellow coloring. The gun is also stamped with "Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department."

The stun bag gun went missing on Saturday, authorities said. A deputy reported that at the end of his shift, the gun in a black canvas bag was not in the trunk of his patrol car. All other equipment was present in the car. 

Officers at the Compton Police Station did an extensive search, but did not find the shotgun.

The yellow shotgun was loaded with four less than lethal bean bags. 

Anyone who has information about the incident is asked to call investigators at the Compton Sheriff's Station at 310-605-6500.
