Instagram Ads on the Way

Instagram wants its users to know that its new ads will be just like flipping through a beautiful, glossy magazine -- rather than annoyances.

"We want these ads to be enjoyable and creative in much the same way you see engaging, high-quality ads when you flip through your favorite magazine," Instagram said on its blog Thursday, and now it's giving us samples of what these ads will look like.
Each ad will sport a "Sponsored" label at the upper right, and its first ads will come from companies who are already a part of the Instagram community. If the ad proves uninteresting or annoying, users can tap ellipses to hide it.  "This will help us show you more interesting ads in the future," Instagram wrote.
"We’re relying on your input to help us continually improve the Instagram experience."
Wow, just what every Instagram user wanted, more interesting ads after years of nothing interrupting their constant buffet of selfies and close-ups of their lunches. We don't think Instagram users will find any ad "more interesting" but they should be aware that the photo- and video-sharing service does need revenue.
Too bad Instagram, or its parent Facebook, just can't come out and state that. The closest it comes to being truthful is that's it's trying to build "Instagram as a business."
