Legendary rock band Metallica is doing its part to address hunger.
Drummer Lars Ulrich paid a visit to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank in the city to help sort food and to present a $5,000 check on behalf of the band's foundation, All Within My Hands.
The band also started a day of service, inviting fans in citites across the U.S. to volunteer at food banks the band supported during last summer’s tour.
"We want to get the word out there that music fans can make a difference, hard rock fans can make a difference," Ulrich said.
Fans received a commemorative T-shirt and rocked out to Metallica's music as they sorted food.
Nearly 400 fans signed up for a chance at the 80 slots available.
