Up to 40 al-Qaida militants have escaped from a Yemen jail, according to security officials. The men attacked the prison guards and stole their weapons while gunmen outside the prison attacked the prison. Al Jazeera reports that at least one prisoner and one policeman were killed in the melee. Most of the escapees were being held on terror convictions or were awaiting trial.
