Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are divorcing.
"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes' attorney Jonathan Wolfe said in a statment. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
Cruise's representative said Holmes had filed for the divorce.

"Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children. Please allow them their privacy," his rep said.
The Hollywood power couple -- dubbed TomKat by the tabloids -- married in November 2006 and has a daughter, Suri, 6. Cruise also has two children with his second wife, actress Nicole Kidman. The divorce was first reported by People.
It will be the third divorce for Cruise, 49, who has split with each of his wives when they were 33 years old, the "Today" show's entertainment blog points out. His first marriage to Mimi Rogers and second marriage to Kidman both ended when the women were 33 years old—Holmes' current age.
Cruise is among the highest paid actors in Hollywood, earning an estimated $75 million over the past year, according to Forbes. Making his name as a teen actor in movies such as "Risky Business" and "Taps," he is star of the "Mission: Impossible" series and countless other action movies. He most recently starred in "Rock of Ages," which opened earlier this month.
Holmes, 33, played the adorable Joey Potter on the late 1990s hit "Dawson's Creek," later co-starring in "Batman Begins." She also appeared on Broadway in 2009 in "All My Sons."
With a big gap in their ages, and an intensely private life, the couple and their marriage has long been a source of fascination in the media.
In 2005, Cruise famously appeared on the Oprah Winfrey show and maniacally declared his love for Holmes. "I'm in love! I'm in love," Cruise yelled, according to a USA TODAY story. "I can't be cool. I can't be laid-back." At the time a People magazine poll said more than half its respondents believed the romance was not real.
No matter the state of the couple's marriage, their daughter Suri has become a media darling, inspiring a fictious blog told from her point of view and countless photos of her distinctly feminine outfits.
