1 Person Killed After Car Crashes Into Metro Bus on 10 Freeway

One person was killed when a car rear-ended a stalled bus and caught fire on the westbound 10 Freeway near Fremont Avenue in Alhambra Tuesday night, authorities said.

The victim was in the vehicle, which hit the bus about 8:10 p.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near Fremont Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

That individual never emerged from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to the CHP.

The bus stalled due to an electrical problem before it was rear-ended, LA Metro's Jose Ubaldo said.

The express lanes and two left main lanes were closed and a SigAlert was issued, according to the CHP.

Five people were on the bus, including the bus driver, Ubaldo said. No one on the bus was injured, he said.
