A father and his 7-year-old daughter were leaving a Southern California library when they were carjacked and abducted by an armed robber who was still at large Tuesday, police said.
The attack happened Monday between 2:30 and 3 p.m. near Haden Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard in Pacoima, according to a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
A gun-wielding robber approached the pair and demanded cash. When the father said he did not have any money, the robber forced him and his daughter into their green Toyota truck and ordered them to drive to an ATM, police said.
After the father withdrew the cash, the attacker drove away with the victim and his young daughter in the truck. The subject dropped off the pair where the 5 and 14 Freeways intersect, police said.
Neither the girl nor her father was hurt in the attack.
Investigators have recovered the stolen truck but have not found the attacker, who is described as a male Hispanic in his early 20s, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 150 to 170 pounds.
