Police Cruiser Involved in Lake Balboa Crash

Five people were injured Monday night in a collision in the Lake Balboa area of the San Fernando Valley involving two vehicles, one of them a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser.

A civilian vehicle overturned in the crash, which was reported about 8:05 p.m. in the 6400 block of Hayvenhurst Avenue, near Victory Boulevard, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

LAPD Valley Traffic Division said the incident happened when one of the vehicles slammed on to the other and flipped over onto its roof. 

Six people, ranging from one to 90-years-old, including two children, were inside one of the vehicles.

All people from both vehicles were transported with minor injuries. 

Authorities continue to investigate what factors led to the incident.
