Police Capture Pursuit Suspect in Palos Verdes Estates

A resident came home to find two people he didn't recognize inside.

Police captured a man who led officers in a brief pursuit after being spotted in a Palos Verdes Estates home, police said Tuesday night.

A Palos Verdes resident came home to the 28000 block of Indian Rock Drive around 11 a.m. and opened the door to find two men inside.

The men left the house and jumped into a getaway car, where another man was behind the wheel.

The resident called the Lomita Sheriff’s Department immediately.

While the deputies were on their way to the home, they spotted the car the resident described and began pursuing the car.

The car crashed and the deputies took two of the men into custody.

One man ran, and police locked down the area around Hawthorne Boulevard and Granvia Altamira.

The man was taken into custody around 9 p.m.

Investigators said they would look into whether the men they detained may have also played a role in a string of burglaries in Rancho Palos Verdes that began before the holidays.

In one case in a home in November, several suspects were caught on home surveillance ransacking the home.
