Officer Shoots Dog When Responding to Family Dispute in Fullerton

A Fullerton police officer responding to a family dispute Saturday shot and killed the resident's pit bull after the dog allegedly charged at him, authorities said.

The officer arrived at about 12:45 p.m. in the 100 block of South Turner Avenue, Fullerton police Sgt. Carin Wright said.

"Upon arrival, a responding officer was charged by the resident's pit bull dog," Wright said. "The officer fired his weapon, striking the dog."

The dog died at the scene, she said.

An investigation is being conducted into the shooting, Wright said.
