Attempted Robbery Fail: Suspects Toss Stolen Cash During Chase

Police Friday chased five armed-robbery suspects from Anaheim to Compton and arrested four of them after they got out of their vehicle and tried to run away.

The robbery occurred about 2:45 a.m. at a Walgreens in the 100 block of South State College Boulevard, the Anaheim Police Department reported.

Officers sent to the business saw a car speeding away and pursued it onto the westbound Artesia (91) Freeway into Compton, were it exited the freeway and went to the area of Visalia Avenue, where the suspects got out and ran, police said.

At some point along the chase route, the suspects threw some money out of the vehicle, police said.

Officers arrested four of the suspects: a 24-year-old woman, and three males ages 17, 18, and 19, Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said. The fifth suspect, believed to be a young man in his late teens, remained at large, Wyatt said.

Police say they found a gun, along with some money believed taken in the robbery, inside the vehicle. Detectives were working with law enforcement personnel from other jurisdictions to determine if the suspects were involved in other crimes, Wyatt said.
