Building Deemed Safe at Mt. SAC Following Report of Bomb Threat

A building at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut was deemed safe Wednesday morning after a report of a bomb threat on campus prompted officials to evacuate the building.

Around 8:42 a.m. a young woman called and said one of her friends told her he overheard a group of men discussing a bomb scheduled to go off at 9 a.m. in building 60 on campus, said Jill Dolan, a spokeswoman for Mt. SAC.

Just before 10 a.m., the bomb threat had been investigated and the building was deemed safe, Dolan said. Students and staff at the college were returning to their classrooms.

While the report was being investigated, a Mt. SAC emergency alert instructed students to "evacuate and stay away from" building 60.

In a second emergency alert tweet, the college noted, "Business continuing in other areas."

Anyone with information about the threat was asked to call 911 or to call Mt. SAC Public Safety at 909-274-4555, the emergency alert said.
