No Evidence of Shots Fired, Possible Robbery Attempt at Westfield Topanga Mall, LAPD Says

Two people were detained after a suspected robbery attempt at a popular mall in Canoga Park sparked fears of a shooting Sunday.

A call came in for a shooting in the 6600 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard around 3:12 p.m., according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The incident took place at a Neiman Marcus store in the Westfield Topanga & Village mall, the LAPD said.

Two people were arrested, suspected of a smash-and-grab robbery using sharp objects to remove property, the LAPD said. They were suspected to taking high-end purses, police said.

No injuries were reported and the suspected robbers were not immediately identified by police.

The LAPD said that no evidence of a shooting had been discovered, but an investigation into the incident was ongoing.
