The Dodgers were joined by a familiar face for the their four-game series in San Francisco this week.
Super-utility star Kiké Hernandez was activated from the disabled list on Monday after missing the last four weeks with a hamstring injury.
Hernandez is not in the starting lineup as the Dodgers are in AT&T Park needing just one win to eliminate their rivals from the postseason while clinching their third consecutive NL West division title in the process.
“I already talked to the guys. I set up a team meeting and said, ‘Thank you,’ to all of them for waiting for me to clinch and celebrate,” Hernandez joked.
Zack Greinke will get first crack at clinching the division as he takes the mound opposite Jake Peavy in the first game of a four-game series.
Dodgers' manager Don Mattingly expects Hernandez to be available off the bench and could be a late pinch-hitter or pinch-runner depending on the situation.
“I love Kiké around,” Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. “Kiké does bring a good energy.”
