Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts was announced Thursday as the 2019 Grand Marshal for the Annual Kingdom Day Parade.
"The Los Angeles Dodgers are longtime supporters of the Kingdom Day Parade, and it gives us great pleasure to honor one of their own. We invite everyone to come out and bring your family and friends to enjoy with us an awesome day of fun, reflection and celebration of the life and legacy of Dr. King,'' said Adrian Dove, president and CEO of Kingdom Day Parade.
The 34th Annual Kingdom Day Parade will be broadcast by ABC on Jan. 21 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The three-mile parade route begins at 10:15 a.m. at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Western Avenue, proceeds west to Crenshaw and then south to Vernon Avenue, with a post-parade festival at Leimert Park.
Roberts, 46, joined the Dodgers in 2016, leading the club to three consecutive National League West Division titles and back-to-back pennants in 2017 and 2018. Following his first season, he was named the National League Manager of the Year.
