Caught on Video: High School Buzzer-Beater

Foothill High School player nails last-second shot to win tournament game

Two amazing long-range three-pointers at the end to a girls high school basketball game were caught on video Wednesday by a cameraman who ended up taking one for the winning team.

Foothill (Santa Ana) High School's Dayanara Armenta hit a running three-pointer just before the buzzer sounded to give the Knights a 44-41 win over Monroe High School in the first round of the Div. II State Tournament.

"It was incredible. The whole place just exploded," said Alex Iseri, who captured the shot on video (embedded, below).

The shot couldn't have happened on a better day for Armenta.

"It was actually her 18th birthday. I'm not kidding," Iseri said.

Iseri also captured the game-tying shot, a three-pointer just a few second earlier from Monroe's Maya Campo. After Armenta's game-winner, he managed to hang on to the camera when he collided with a celebrating player.

"At the end of the game, both of us collided, but I just kept on filming, filming, filming," Iseri said. "I got bruised up a little, but I was like, 'eh who cares?'"
