Saturday Watch Guide: Southern California Olympians

Sprinters Allyson Felix and Carmelita Jeter, medal contenders in the 100m, are some of the Southern California athletes in action this weekend

Don't blink -- it will take about 10 seconds Saturday to determine the Olympics' fastest woman.

The 100m dash final is scheduled for Saturday afternoon (PT), and Southern California sprinters will be in medal contention. Carmelita Jeter posted the fastest time in Friday's Olympic qualifying heats -- a 10.83. Allyson Felix and Tianna Madison also qualified for the 100m semifinals.

Track and Field: Men's 400m, Round 1
In October 2008, Bryshon Nellum was near the USC campus when he was struck three times in the legs by gunfire from a vehicle. He was told he would not return to world-class form, but four years later he is competting in London. Early Saturday Nellum ran a 45.29 in a qualifying heat, good enough to advance to Sunday's semifinals.

Women's Tennis Singles: Serena Williams v. Maria Sharapova
Williams won her first Olympic medal in singles, defeating Sharapova in convincing style -- 6,0, 6-1. Each set took about 30 minutes, leaving Williams with more time to prep for her doubles semifinal with sister Venus, scheduled for 8:30 a.m. PT.

Men's Basketball: United States v. Lithuania
Lithuania already lost to France and Argentina in group play, but challenged the United States to the end. LeBron James took over in the final minutes to give the United Statea a 99-94 victory. Former UCLA Bruins Kevin Love and Russell Westbrook both had seven points. Laker Kobe Bryant scored six points.

Men's Volleyball: United States v. Russia
A win against Russia would clinch Group B for the men's team and secure a place in the knockout stage. Russia is ranked No. 2 in the world, but the United States has already defeated world No. 1 Brazil.

Tennis: Men's Doubles Final
The Bryan brothers, of Camarillo, will challenge the French team of Llodra and Tsonga for gold.
When: Saturday, 8 a.m. (approx.)

Track and Field: Women's 100m
Carmelita Jeter (Gardena) and Allyson Felix (Santa Clarita) both have a shot at medals. Jeter, who posted the best time in Friday's qualifiers, will compete in the first semifinal heat followed by Felix. Southern California's Tianna Madison also qualified for the semifinals.
When: Saturday, 11:35 a.m. (Semifinals) and 1:55 p.m. (Final)

Men's Water Polo: United States v. Serbia
Group B supremacy is on the line Saturday. The U.S. defeated Serbia, a gold-medal contender, at the Beijing Games in the semifinals before losing to Hungary in the final

Swimming: Men's/Women's 4x100m Medley Relays
Both U.S. teams include Southern California athletes -- Long Beach's Jessica Hardy and Eric Shanteau, of Marina Del Rey.
When: Saturday, 12:07 p.m. (women) and 12:27 p.m. (men)

Women's Beach Volleyball: May-Treanor/Walsh Jennings v. Netherlands
In their last Olympics together, the most dominant team in women's beach volleyball enters the Round of 16.
When: Saturday, 1 p.m.

Men's Beach Volleyball: Gibb/Rosenthal v. Russia
Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal dropped a match in group play, but rebounded to claim a spot in the Round of 16
