Barricade Involving 90-Year-Old Hostage Ends in Surrender

A man barricaded himself with two hostages in his Lake View Terrace Home. One of the victims is reportedly a woman in her 90s

An hours-long standoff between an allegedly armed man who was holding two people, including a woman in her 90s, and a LAPD SWAT team in Lake View Terrace ended Friday morning with the man giving himself up, according to a report from the scene.

It ended at about 3:40 a.m. when the man walked out of the home on the 12100 block of Hoyt Street and surrendered to officers. He had been barricaded inside the home since about 8 p.m. Thursday after officers responded to a shots fired call at the residence.

The two people he is suspected of holding inside were not hurt.

Detectives are trying to determine if the man was involved in a shooting at Gladstone Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard Thursday night that left one person hurt.

The gunshot victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.
