Video Shows Violent Attack on Store Clerk in Lake Elsinore

Video of a store clerk in Lake Elsinore being attacked by two men armed with knives was recently released as the search for his attackers continues. The clerk was stabbed multiple times, but miraculously survived his injuries.

The surveillance footage recorded Oct. 5 shows clear images of the two men who allegedly attacked the clerk.

George Gorou and fellow store clerk Alfred were closing up Lake Elsinore market around 9:30 p.m. that night when Alfred noticed a group of people urinating on the property so he confronted them.

But seconds later, some of the men started attacking Alfred and he fought back. The brawl eventually made its way to the parking lot, where Gorou was able to diffuse the situation.

But just when it appeared that the group was about to leave, some of the men started charging at Alfred. And Gorou said at least two were armed with knives. Alfred can be seen in the footage trying to get away from his attackers.

"I know he got stabbed with a knife four times," Gorou said.

The group of six people – including one woman – quickly left in a dark colored SUV.

Alfred was then rushed to a nearby hospital – quickly losing blood from his stab wounds.

"One was an inch away from his spine ... he got one in the lung and one lower back and one in the thigh," Cynthia said.

Cynthia asked NBC4 not to reveal her last name because she is in fear for her 19-year-old son’s safety.

She said Alfred is now recovering at home, but he’s worried that he won’t be able to pursue his dream of joining the U.S. Navy because of his serious injuries.

"He’s been looking forward to doing this for his whole life … and now he probably can’t."

Cynthia is hoping Alfred’s punctured lung won’t give him any long term physical problems. She’s also hoping someone will identify the two men who she says tried to kill her son.

"I think the best thing for them is to just turn themselves in so they can tell their part of the story if they have nothing to do with it."

Investigators are working to identify the people involved in this stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department at 951-776-1099.
