A statue of The Virgin Mary was destroyed Wednesday night at the Historic Mission San Conrado in Los Angeles.
Volunteers said when they got to the Mission Thursday morning, they found the statue with the head completely gone.
"The last volunteer left at nine o'clock last night," said volunteer Carlos Hernandez. "When the first volunteer came in today (Thursday) at 10 a.m., they saw the statue ruined."
There were no working security cameras around the church during the time of the incident. This is the second time this week the church has been vandalized and the third time this year.
Hernandez said last week the same statue was damaged but the damages were fixable.
Police said there is nothing they can do due to insufficient information.
Hernandez said the church is thinking about replacing the statue.
