Woman Dies Weeks After Brutal Unsolved Attack at Riverside Park

A 60-year-old woman who was found severely injured from an apparent assault in a Riverside park has died of her injuries, police said.

The attack on Susan Wagner of Riverside occurred in the late-night hours on Nov. 1 in the 11400 block of Orion Street, close to the southwest entrance to Doty-Trust Park, according to Riverside Police Department Officer Ryan Railsback.

Patrol officers were called to the location about 11:30 p.m. after a passer-by came upon Wagner barely conscious, suffering from life-threatening injuries, Railsback said.

The victim was taken to a Riverside trauma center, where she died on Monday as a result of her injuries, police said.

Wagner had been seen walking on Orion Street between 7:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. on the night she was found injured and video shows two people walking in the area near that time, police said.

"Several vehicles were also seen in the area at the time she was there," police said, adding that Wagner may have appeared disoriented or agitated. "Detectives are asking for anyone who may have seen the victim, people, or vehicles in the area at the time to call or email them with the information."
