Disneyland's Oogie-Spooky Plans for Halloween 2019

A fresh and phantom-fun bash in Disney California Adventure is on the haunted horizon.

What to Know

  • Disneyland Resort
  • Anaheim
  • Sept. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019

Where is it always Halloween, even when it isn't actually officially Halloween?

Some accurate guesses: Halloween Town from "Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas," yes. The box of ghoulish decorations in your garage, perhaps. And, for sure, a certain stately mansion found inside New Orleans Square at Disneyland park.

And you can bet that a theme park that has been home to the world's best-known haunted house for a half century now will also stage quite the massive and monstrously merry party.

As Disneyland Resort will again, in 2019, over most of September and all of October.

It's Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort, and The Phantomiest Place on Earth just revealed a few dastardly details about what visitors can expect.

After all, we're now less than two months away from the spooky celebration's Sept. 6 kick-off. Cue the ghostly laughter and Haunted Mansion-style organ.

Some highlights, er, shadowlights?

The Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disney Halloween Party, a separately ticketed to-do at Disney California Adventure, is sure to summon "Nightmare"-ishly nice experiences, including "Villainous!," the brand-new "World of Color" show created for the event.

Also flowering like a beautiful marigold at Disney California Adventure?

Día de los Muertos decorations, foods, and activities. Look for vibrant, picture-worhty references to Pixar's "Coco" and other muertos-tastic sights.

Elsewhere in the theme park? Several attractions'll sport the Halloween spirit, with Guardians of the Galaxy — Monsters After Dark dropping in for a few thrilling weeks.

And at Disneyland park? Haunted Mansion Holiday will return, with cameos from Jack, Sally, and an all-new gingerbread mansion in the ballroom.

We have Zero doubt that'll be completely gorgeous.

And the projection and special effects show "Halloween Screams" will also be back in the park after a nearly decade-long hiatus.

The giant Main Street Mickey pumpkin will return for your photo-taking pleasure, as will the orange-y decorations Halloween fans love to see when fall arrives in Southern California.

Halloween starts early at Disneyland Resort, oh yes it does. But why would we expect anything different from a place that's home to the Haunted Mansion, a caboodle of cool witches, and other fantastical elements?

Magic times will bubble, bubble daily in Anaheim from Sept. 6 through Oct. 31, 2019.
