AIDS Walk Over, Giving Marches On

Even if you missed LA AIDS walk, your can still do your part.

There are enough people with HIV/AIDS in Los Angeles to fill Dodger Stadium. That’s 56,000 people who will benefit from this weekend’s 6.2 mile walk that raised money for AIDS Project Los Angeles. And that number continues to grow.

The AIDS Walk Los Angeles celebrated its 25th anniversary this weekend and didn’t miss a step. The event, which brought over 40,000 participants, has raised more than $60 million since 1985.

But even if you missed it, it's not too late to lend your support. All you need to do is shop at Ralph's.

APLA is one of the many charities participating in Ralph’s’ Community Contribution Program, which makes giving back easy. Just register your Ralph’s card online and every time you use it, a portion of your bill will be donated to the charity of your choice.

AIDS Project Los Angeles facilitates educational and prevention programs throughout LA county and also provides basic services to low income people with HIV/AIDS. APLA is a national AIDS prevention and awareness advocate, supporting and actively fighting for HIV related government programs.

There are other ways to support APLA that can benefit you as well as the charity. You can donate your old electronics like cell phones, PDA's and iPods to their Recycling for Charities program and help both APLA and the environment.

Also, if you have an old car, truck or boat taking up one of your valuable parking spaces, you can donate it to support APLA programs and services and get a nice tax deduction on top of it.
