How did you, or how will you, celebrate your 50th birthday?
It's a major milestone, no doubt about it; a brief survey of any drugstore's card section tells us it is a time ripe for celebration (as well as gentle/not-so-gentle ribbing).
If Madame Tussauds is celebrating your 50th, complete with a wax figure created in your likeness, well. You just might be the President of the United States. Because that's exactly what's happening on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 11 a.m., when the Hollywood museum rolls out a cake, some fanfare, and the President Obama figure, not to mention well wishes for all sorts of birthday joy.
We'll note that Aug. 4 is the President's actual birthday, and we'll also note that if your own birthday is Aug. 4, you'll get into the bash for free. (We'll also note that Madame Tussauds welcomes birthday celebrators gratis on their birthday all year long; so if your birthday is Oct. 11 or Jan. 4, be sure to show on that particular day for your free entry.)
There are a lot of interesting facts about the Tussauds presidential figures. The museum says that President Obama is the first person to be immortalized at all of its various locations, from here to London and beyond. There's also a full-on Oval Office arriving at the Hollywood location this fall. Photo fun for the politics-loving, pop culture-minded maven.
What with all of the industry's White House-set films, and the new Oval Office on Hollywood Boulevard, we only have one question: How many tribute, movie-magic Oval Offices exist on studio lots and in museums around Hollywood? We feel like there might be an interesting photo book there, or something.
