LA Fash Week: Buyers Go to Some Shows: LA designers have a number…

LA designers have a number of complaints about LA Fashion Week—two biggies being that it's expensive and buyers don't show. In an item with CAN's Trade Talk blog co-founder of Elmer Ave Jonny Day estimates "a top-line runway show costs from $15,000 to $20,000 to produce in Los Angeles. He conceded Elmer Ave.’s Oct. 13 show at the Main Tent of Smashbox Studios did not come cheap," but he thinks it's worth it: “I’d rather do runway shows than trade shows...With runway shows, you’re the one in the spotlight.” Buyers in Elmer Ave's Monday night show included Saks, Kitson and Fred Segal.
