SUNDAY CINEMA: Sure, you can toodle about a golf course in a golf cart. You can also take to the streets of a certain Catalina Island city (and, let's be honest; driving a golf cart around Avalon is one of the great California pleasures). And you can watch a drive-in movie while seated in a golf cart, at Rancho Las Palmas. Now, granted, you can't throw down some blankets, like you used to do in the back of your dad's station wagon. But you can sit and think how cool it is to be lined up with a bunch of other carts, enjoying an al fresco evening presentation. Yeah. We'd brag about it, probably for a long time.

DETAILS: The Rancho Mirage resort is kicking off its Sunday night Drive-In Movies on Sunday, April 10 with "Despicable Me"; there are more films to come, including movies over summer's longer holiday weekends. If you're looking for some interesting stay-over deals, there are a bunch going, including the recently debuted Rancho Experience, which has credits that go toward spa or golf, and eats at bluEmber, too.
