It was no April Foolin': Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Roger Waters, and The Who'll rock Indio in October 2016.

General wisdom has long held that if exciting information arrives in April, the kind of rumor that might seem too good to be true, a person must pause to ponder if any April Foolin' is involved.

    So where's this all leading?

Remember a few weeks back, when word on the wind said that possibly, and just maybe, a sextet of legendary music acts would play a desert music festival in the fall? With a roster made up of Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Roger Waters, Neil Young, and Bob Dylan?

It's true, as in 100% true, as in it is now for sure happening and the conjecture-laden, fingers-crossed period of time has ended. Goldenvoice, which produces a bevy of mondo outdoor music extravaganzas, including the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, confirmed the weekend-long spectacular on Tuesday, May 3.

Goldenvoice is calling it "the concert of a lifetime," along with the revelation that the on-sale for passes is Monday morning, May 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific.

The festival's dates? Friday, Oct. 7, Saturday, Oct. 8, and Sunday, Oct. 9.

The place? Empire Polo Club, the same place where Coachella and Stagecoach unfurl each year.

The night-by-night breakdown? The Stones and Bob Dylan start up Friday. Paul McCartney and Neil Young've got Saturday. And Roger Waters and The Who round out the weekend.

Prices, hotel packages, and details? Desert Trip is the new HQ.

Still not quite sure if April Fool's isn't trying to pull one over on you? There's video, straight from Goldenvoice. And prices made plain. And a fountain of excitement in many tune-loving corners of the internet.

    It's happening, music mavens.
