5 Freeway to Close for Weekend Construction Work in Santa Fe Springs

The 5 Freeway will be closed in both directions as part of road and bridge construction project

Delays are expected on the 5 Freeway in Santa Fe Springs throughout the weekend as part of a project to add lanes to the roadway and  reconfigure the Alondra Boulevard bridge.

The 5 Freeway will be closed in both directions from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m.  Saturday and Sunday and 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday between Carmenita Road and Valley  View Avenue, according to Caltrans.

Lane and ramp closures will begin at 10 p.m. The ramp from the  southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway to the southbound 5 will be closed  throughout the weekend, along with the ramp from the westbound Artesia (91)  Freeway to the northbound 5.

During daylight hours over the weekend, various lanes will be closed in  the affected stretch of the 5 Freeway.

The northbound Valley View onramp to the 5 Freeway will be closed during  the 55-hour weekend closure. The southbound Alondra Boulevard onramp to the 5  Freeway will close permanently, according to Caltrans.
