Daycare Center Operator Sentenced to 22 Years for Child Molestation

The daycare center has since been closed by the state Department of Social Services, police said

A former Boyle Heights daycare operator was sentenced to 22 years in prison Monday for molesting four children.

Enrique Ramos, 46, was arrested Feb. 21, 2013, and charged with molesting three girls, all under the age of 10. The girls attended the Cano & Ramos Day Care Center, which was owned by Ramos’ wife.

Upon further examination, LAPD detectives found two more sexual assault allegations against Ramos. The prior cases from 2008 and 2009 involved a 5 –year-old boy.

Ramos pleaded guilty on Nov. 3 to five felony counts of child molestation. Ramos admitted that the abuse occurred while he was working as a daycare operator.

The daycare center has since been closed by the state Department of Social Services, police said.
