Dodgers' Vin Scully to Miss Postseason After Medical Procedure

Legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully underwent a "recommended medical procedure" Thursday morning and is recovering, but the team says he will not return to the microphone for the 2015 postseason.

"On the advice of his doctors, Scully will miss the Dodgers’ postseason games to rest up but is looking forward to returning in 2016," the team said in a statement. "Everyone in the Dodgers organization wishes Vin the speediest of recoveries."

The Dodgers were set to open their National League Division Series against the New York Mets at home Friday.

The Hall of Fame broadcaster has called games for the Dodgers for a record-breaking 65 seasons.

Scully, who announced in August that he will return the announcer's booth in 2016, also is the youngest sports broadcaster to broadcast a World Series game. At age 25, he called the 1953 World Series game between the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Yankees.
