Julio Urias Will Make MLB Debut for Dodgers on Friday

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Thursday morning that 19-year-old pitching phenom will make his MLB debut on Friday against the New York Mets

The Teenager's time has come.

Less than a week ago we wrote that it was time for the Los Angeles Dodgers to call up top pitching prospect Julio Urias from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

On Thursday morning, our prayers were answered.

The Dodgers announced earlier Thursday morning that Friday's expected starter Alex Wood, would skip his start with soreness in his left triceps, paving the way for Urias to make his Major League debut.

The Mexican pitching phenom nicknamed "The Teenager" has been on fire in Triple-A OKC with a 1.10 ERA and an astonishing 27 consecutive scoreless innings streak. Urias was supposed to start on Thursday night in Fresno as he looked to extend that streak, but he will be flown to New York to make his MLB debut on the brightest stage instead.

At just 19 years old, Urias will become the youngest starting pitcher in over 53 years since Dick Calmus in 1963.

We're not yet sure what moves the Dodgers will make in order to make room for Urias, as the team does not believe that Wood will need to spend time on the DL.

In the meantime, it's time for fans to get excited, as the future is now for the Dodgers on Friday.
