Man Found Shot Dead in Rowland Heights

Detectives were investigating the shooting death of a man in Rowland Heights early Friday morning, authorities said.

The victim was found around 11:40 p.m. Thursday in the 18400 block of
Desidia Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

The victim, identified by the coroner's office Friday afternoon as 18-year-old Fernando Basurto Jr. of West Covina, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call reporting shots fired and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds to his torso in the alley.

Deputies said the man was visiting friends when two men approached and opened fire on the group. No one else in the group was hurt.

Deputies were searching for two men possibly connected to the fatal shooting, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Neighbor Jessie Ortega said she heard four shots ring out.

"The only problem in this street, and anyone can attest, is the parking," she said

Detectives said a motive for the shooting was unknown.
