Police were searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man in Pomona Sunday night.
The crash occurred near Holt and Garey avenues just before midnight, according to the Pomona Police Department.
Responding officers found the victim on the roadway after the driver had fled the location. The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics.
Coroner's officials described the victim as a black male in his 50s. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
No suspect or vehicle description was made available but Pomona police said the car has significant damage to the windshield.
The collision is being investigated by the Pomona Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team and the Los Angeles County Coroner's office.
