A member of the U.S. Navy has been arrested for allegedly committing lewd acts with a 3-year-old little girl at his Camarillo home, officials said.

Adam Esquivel, 38, was arrested Wednesday afternoon at his home in the 2000 block of Herron Court, according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Office.

Esquivel is accused of inappropriately touching the girl while she was at his home.

The nature of the relationship between Esquivel and the girl was not immediately disclosed.

Sgt. Anthony Aguirre said the sheriff's department had no previous contact with Esquivel.

He is being held in lieu of $350,000 bail and pleaded not guilty Friday. He is next scheduled to appear in court July 14.

Aguirre said they do not know of any other victims, but decided to inform the public as a precaution.

"It's because of the seriousness of the crime, and it's a neighborhood thing," he said. "We just thought we would be on the safe side."

Anyone with information is asked to call Det. Frances Saleh at 805-384-4721.
